Even with the system overclocked to 4 GHz, this new aircraft is a frame rate killer. With a default aircraft, like the King Air 350, frame rate is up around 30 FPS, but this aircraft brings it down to the mid to low teens. It’s beautiful, but even my 1920x1200 monitor seems a little small - time to take it to the living room and run it @ 4K. I guess I need to dial down the scenery if I want to fly these new aircraft at reasonable frame rates. This is what I expected, but you’d think an i7 at 4 GHz and a GTX 1080 would do a bit better...

British components making systems hot and unresponsive. Huh.

If your machine is struggling at 1080p , 4K will be like a slideshow. Lots more pixels to process.

Time to go to Prepar3D instead of FSX. You can throw all the processing power you want at FSX, it will never run great.
Same goes up to a point for P3D but it is quite a bit better optimized for modern systems.

When I posted this a few days ago, I was definitely thinking that 2020 might be a good time to update my graphics card:
Do you know what is bogging down your simulation? Is it the graphical load or the actual simulation?

If this is FSX, I am on a GTX 1080 and it wouldn’t render in 4k for me at all. Updated drivers and tweaked to no avail. Let me know how you do.

Depends where the bottleneck is. If it’s CPU bound it might not make much difference at all. I wouldn’t be shocked if that were the case FSX is not really going to make good use of multi-core processors.

I was thinking of simpler aircraft at 4K; I know this one would just kill things...

Good point! Will be fun trying :)
